Being sick, makes you nostalgic…
FOUND A GOOD CHURCH.
Thank you, God, for Living Water. ”
I remember when I went out to my first Livingwater event during Welcome Week. It was held in a decently sized room and I was seated at a table with other freshmen and a few Livingwater upperclassmen. In the background, I heard chatter from the surrounding tables and the projected singing of three people who were off in the corner.
“Isn’t his voice like butter?”
This is the first thing I remember from that night.
Now, after nearly 8 months of attending Livingwater, there are so many more memories to be added to that one night. I remember my small group, wondering how the heck this one girl kept flipping her hair from side to side and why I couldn’t do that with my hair. I remember my first retreat, totally taken aback by the sight of guys hugging each other so…intimately aha. I remember my first movie night in Dwinelle, watching YouTube videos on the big screen until 3 in the morning. I remember late night talks, midday talks, and early morning talks with my girls, wondering if we could be spiritual role models one day. I remember meeting with the freshmen class reps, wondering if our class could as unified as the upperclassmen one day. I remember praying with our class, realizing that this is what unity looked like in our class.
Praying, persevering, keeping each other accountable, getting involved, encouraging each other and having each other’s backs. Meeting up from time to time just ‘cause. Staying up late just ‘cause. Getting excited about the next few years just ‘cause.
Putting together this video was a bittersweet thing to do. Looking through old videos and pictures made me miss some of the more spontaneous, reckless things we used to do as a class but it also made me realize how much we had all grown. Amongst us are future ministry leaders, Greek life leaders, dance community leaders, community service leaders and so much more…
Things will change the next 3 years, but regardless of where the future takes us, you will all hold very dear places in my heart. My passion for Jesus has grown tenfold and I hope friends and family back at home will be able to see this difference. I’ve been changed, inspired, and refined by you all and I am thankful that I was able to spend my first year of college with this class.
I’m excited for us :)
